The bentwood bento boxes made in Oodate City, Akita Prefecture, have a 1300-year history and are said to be the best in Japan. The aroma of the wood enhances the flavor of the rice, and because it absorbs excess moisture, the rice remains delicious even when cold. After use, do not use a dishwasher; wash with lukewarm water and a soft sponge. Avoid heating in a microwave; heat in a separate container first, then place in the bentwood bento box.
