KAISEKI STYLE-SHOKDO BENTO BOX SET
The Shokado Bento Box is a traditional and elegant Japanese bento box that originated from the shokado-style meal presentation commonly found
in tea ceremonies. It is characterized by its compartmentalized design, allowing for the artful arrangement of various dishes in a visually appealing manner. The Shokado Bento Box is not only functional but also a reflection of the aesthetics and precision associated with Japanese culinary traditions.
Origin of shokado bento box
The box is named after Shokado Shojo, a Buddhist monk, artist, and calligrapher who lived in Yawata in the 16th century. Shojo repurposed wooden boxes used by farmers to carry seeds into containers for his paints and tools.
Afterwards, a Japanese renown chef started to use the box to serve Cha-Kaiseki, which was featured in a newspaper and recognized in public.
Shokado Bento Box is a Japanese traditional bento style and it is sort of a reproduced version of Japanese Kaiseki Cuisine (traditional Japanese meal brought in courses). These days it is regarded as an expensive catering bento box and consists of gorgeous dishes similar to Kaiseki Cuisine while ordinary bento boxes consist of more preservable foods such as fries and grills.
